Arts Quincy Announces Expansion of Community Arts Access

Arts Quincy is thrilled to unveil the expansion of its highly acclaimed Community Arts Access program for the upcoming school year. This initiative, generously funded by the Illinois Arts Council Agency, will extend its reach to children in grades K-5 across Adams County public, parochial and nontraditional schools. This collaborative endeavor, which involves numerous students, dozens of schools and several nonprofit arts and culture organizations, aims to enrich the lives of young learners through immersive arts experiences.
The Community Arts Access program is set to provide students with a diverse range of arts-related opportunities that will ignite their creativity and foster a deeper appreciation for culture and education.
All Adams County K-5 schools will have the opportunity to take a field trip to an arts organization or have an in-school activity appropriate for each grade level. Organizations include Quincy Children’s Museum, Quincy Community Theatre, Quincy Art Center, Quincy Museum and the Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County.
All K-5 students in Adams and Brown Counties will also receive a holiday gift certificate in the form of a family pass to tour the Quincy Museum during Winter Break. This initiative is sponsored by the Tracy Family Foundation to encourage quality family time and foster a lifelong love of learning.
“We at Arts Quincy along with our partners at the Tracy Family Foundation believe in the power of the arts to foster engaging activities and memory-making for families. There’s no better gift during the holidays than spending time with those nearest and dearst to your heart, and we hope these families love their trip to Quincy Museum.” explains executive director Laura Sievert.
This expansion of the Community Arts Access program aligns with Arts Quincy’s mission to boost access to the arts and strengthen arts education in the region. “Year after year, these programs play an increasingly vital role in our schools as teachers incorporate more cultural arts activities into their curriculum,” says Sievert.
“Numerous studies have shown that students who actively participate in fine arts classes and extracurricular fine arts activities consistently achieve higher grade point averages and boast better attendance records than their peers. Arts education doesn’t just enhance academic performance; it nurtures well-rounded individuals with a broader perspective on life.”
In addition to the generous support from the Illinois Arts Council Agency, Arts Quincy extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Tracy Family Foundation, The Moorman Foundation, Community Foundation and the dedicated members of Arts Quincy for their invaluable contributions to furthering arts education in our community.
Arts Quincy invites parents, educators, and community members to join in celebrating this exciting expansion of the Community Arts Access program. Together, we can empower the next generation with the transformative power of the arts, fostering creativity, critical thinking and a lifelong love of arts and culture.
