Douglas for national political offices, was a frequent visitor. It's little wonder that people of Central Illinois, where the Great Emancipator and martyred president had spent 29 years of his life, would want to claim some special connection to him. Adams County, IL - In 2025, Adams County, Illinois, will proudly mark its 200th anniversary, and the Adams County Bicentennial Commission (ACBC) is thrilled to announce community-driven plans for a year-long celebration. To honor this significant occasion, throughout 2024, the ACBC would like to invite businesses, organizations and people to create, execute or participate in activities that commemorate the stories of our people and places to mark this historic occasion. All are committed to presenting a diverse and engaging celebration that reflects the rich tapestry of our County's collective history.
