It happens every year, you find yourself stuck on what to get “that person.” You know, the one who already has everything? Or maybe it’s someone who is working on downsizing. This year consider giving experience gifts. Not only are they naturally clutter-free but they create memories the recipient will cherish for years to come. 

Earlier this spring, Arts Quincy helped area artists and arts organizations apply for the Illinois Creative Recovery/B2B Arts Grant by serving as an information hub for all of west central Illinois. The program is an historic $50 million in grant money being distributed by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) to assist businesses, nonprofit organizations, sole proprietors, freelancers and independent contractors in the creative sector that have suffered losses because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The announcement of grant awards was made in October.

​For the second time, Arts Quincy has been awarded the 2023 Better Business Bureau Torch Award. The program recognizes commitment to the highest level of nonprofit ethics and accountability.

​Meet Jeff Hibbs, is a relatively new member of the Quincy Woodworkers Guild. Jeff was invited to a meeting in 2023 and joined right away. His day job is running a CNC lathe at Watlow Industries, but in his free time Jeff applies himself to a wide range of projects including woodworking, building a retention wall, home remodeling, 3d printing, some metal work and expanding his workshop’s capabilities.
