Arts Quincy Launches Limited-Edition Lighted Bayview Bridge Building Kit to Support Community Programs
The first release in five-year HeART of Quincy Collection: The Bayview Bridge Building Kit! When assembled, the model measures approximately 16 inches long by 7 inches tall and comes packaged in a full-color glossy collector’s box. features 444 pieces, 20 LED lights and a miniature Gully Transportation semi.
One of Quincy’s most recognizable landmarks is about to become buildable!
The Bayview Bridge is No. 1 of five planned releases in Arts Quincy’s new HeART of Quincy Collection, celebrating the landmarks that make the community unmistakably Quincy.
“We shopped around extensively because we didn’t want something that just vaguely looked like the Bayview Bridge. We wanted a beautiful model people would be proud to build and display,” said Laura Hesseltine, Executive Director of Arts Quincy. “Business Bricks understood that immediately, right down to producing custom teal-colored bricks to capture the distinctive color of the profile of our real bridge.”
Big-Time Brick Quality, Unmistakably Quincy.
The kits are produced by Business Bricks, a custom brick manufacturer whose work includes projects for Toyota, Delta Air Lines and Visa, including a custom Formula 1 car. The Bayview Bridge was designed as a substantial display piece, with high-quality components, detailed instructions and custom elements created specifically for Quincy, and bricks are compatible with other major brands.
The model recreates the iconic cable-stayed bridge over the Mississippi River and includes the river below, a barge and a miniature semi crossing the bridge. Its 20 LED lights recreate one of the landmark’s most recognizable features: the illuminated bridge against the riverfront at night.
Gully Transportation is the Presenting Sponsor of the inaugural release, and each kit includes a custom Gully sticker to transform the miniature semi into a Gully truck.
The partnership has an especially fitting Quincy connection: Gully Transportation and Arts Quincy were both founded in 1947 and will celebrate their 80th anniversaries in 2027.
“Gully’s tagline is ‘Pulling for America with Professional Pride,’ and we love having a longtime Quincy company quite literally pulling across the bridge in our first set,” Hesseltine said. “It’s a fun way to celebrate two organizations that have been part of this community since 1947.”
Major Sponsors include Emerald City Jewelers, also partnering with Arts Quincy on the Shine Bright promotion, and Melissa b interiors, which will serve as a pickup location for the kits.
Additional Friends of the Arts Sponsors include Quincy Children’s Museum, 644 Maine Boutique, The City of Quincy, IL, Brumbaugh Tree Service and JcWoahmack Art.
Proceeds from the project stay local and support Arts Quincy programs in the community. The collection is designed to create sustainable unrestricted revenue while giving residents and businesses something distinctly Quincy in return.
“When someone buys one of these kits as a Christmas gift, builds it with their kids or puts it on a shelf in their office, they’re also supporting arts programs right here in our community,” Hesseltine said. “That’s the kind of fundraising model we love.”
Quincy-opoly Sold Out. Preorder Early.
Arts Quincy saw the strong demand for limited-edition local collectibles last year when Quincy-opoly sold out, with many would-be buyers still looking for games afterward.
With another limited production run planned for the Bayview Bridge, Arts Quincy is encouraging anyone who wants the inaugural HeART of Quincy release to take advantage of the preorder period.
Kits are $75 when preordered by Nov. 1. Any remaining inventory will be $85 when the kits arrive, with delivery anticipated in December. Preorders are available now at artsquincy.org.
Shipping is available with an additional fee. Bulk orders of 10+ kits are available at a discounted rate.
The Bayview Bridge begins a planned five-year series featuring a different Quincy landmark each year.
“This is No. 1,” Sievert-Hesseltine said. “Five years from now, we want people to have a little collection of Quincy sitting on their shelves that reminds them not just of our iconic landmarks, but of the arts and cultural experiences they helped make possible.”
Collect. Build. Celebrate Quincy.
